Political;
Some political reasons of the Civil War are;Senator John C. Calhoun continued to challenge the Union and threatened to secede or withdraw South Carolina from the U.S. A compromise was finally reached to avert this crisis, but this only put off the Civil War temporarily. After the South's secession, the work began with trying to restore The Union. Some of the political actions taken by the administration of Abraham Lincoln bordered on dictatorial, like as the suspension of Habeas Corpus and the arrest of members of the Maryland legislature. |
Economic;
Southern states had to rely on slaves for their farming economy and cotton production. Southerners made lots of money due to the cotton, and the slaves were fighting back to maintain them. The Northerners did not need slaves and they fought to free them. |
